Has anyone buildt their own carbon hull?

    Hi

I have been thinking abit about maybe makeing a new hull for my 05 RXP during the next winter. And if so use carbon, maybe Carbon/Armid, or carbon/S-Glass hybrids or plain S-glass.

Only thing I know its gonna be epoxy resin, and vacum molded.

    Anyone done this befor?

Gonna use my current hull to make the plug, and maybe add a couple of steps for better performance?

Most likely I would like it to be somthing like "Clear gel, carbon fiber, S-glass" sandwich?

Not sure on thicknes, layers etc.

My main goal is to create a lighter hull, but I do love the carbon weave look aswell, so that would be the bonus.

    Best regards

Massive undertaking. You need to make sure it's strong enough in the right places.

Its not that bad when you have the right help. My part time work is installation of engines, electric equipment, navigation equipment and testdriving boats for a few companies back home, as alot of my friends are in the boatbuilding buisness, so I have a fair idea of how I would like to do it, and no problem geting professional help.

But its always a good idea to ask others who have done it befor, and learn abit from their mistakes and listen to what they did right and what they would have done different.
