    Norwegian 08 RXP-X, shopping list input

    Hey!

    Just got my RXP-X yesterday. Been wanting to get one a couple of years now, finally got one
    Has 127h on it. 100h service done, new 200h SC kit. Brand new 15/22R, Riva SS ring, Riva grate.
    Havent gotten around to a real topspeed test, but Iphone speedtracker showed 72mph on a
    little test run when I picked it up. Would post a pic, but hey, they all look the same! =)

    Also been reading the forum "24/7" lately. A lot of good info in here.
    I don't know how far I in time will go with mods. Hope someone can give me some pointers.

    So here is my shoppinglist (work in progress)

    Strainer
    Fizzle catch can. On second thought, maybe plumb it to the kanaflex somehow since I ride in salt water.
    OPAS removal kit
    R&D SC adapter (for DIY 4" air intake, haven't found kanaflex equivalent in .NO yet)
    SF racing impeller nose cone
    Riva pump wedge (do I really need the ext rod?)
    Riva 83mm nozzle ring (will try to get the oem nozzle machined like Slow 91 does)

    Will the free flow exhaust kit give any gains? Will it be as loud as a
    thru-hull?

    Ofc. the DIY mods like filling ride plate holes and reverse bucket mod.
    Bilge pump on my DIY list as well.

    Here is a good thread to read. I perfer the R&D grate as the WORX tends to start stuffing at over 75 mph depending on your complete set up on a PX.

    R&D grate was on my shopping list before I even got the ski. You think I should sell my riva grate and get R&D's?
    I DID notice loss of hookup in the chop yesterday. It was better against the wind/waves than with.

    As for the thread you linked, I just ordered the piece for DIY freeflow from CXracing.

    In one post the guy said he got top speed two clicks down from full tilt. If so, why do we need the wedge?

    I usually ride in rivers only. The RXPX is not a good open water ski. JMO Getting and staying hooked up in open water with any grate on a RXPX will be a problem. IMO

    Hei hei!

    Go with a catch can, does not give you problems in salt water, go over the threads on the valve with loctite, mine came off

    Free flow exhaust is loader than thru hull in many cases, it gives a "drone" in certain speeds, I've been thinking of opening up the exhast, but it will be thru hull then for sure.
    I would not expect much gain or any at all with the exhaust, at least on a stock charger. 4" air intake you notice tho, pretty good bang for the bucks, supercharger gets louder too

    Don't use a catch can for the salt water IMO - You want any oils that are contained in the engine gasses going back into the engine to help lube the intake system / valves etc against corrosion from the salt water / air.

    Bilge pump or two for sure with waves like in your pictures. You may also consider using a frogskin or similar (or block it off) for the rear air intake under the back of the seat as water will get in the hull quick from there if you are wave jumping waves like that. If you do block the rear intake off you need to find another way of getting cold fresh air into the hull to let the engine breath. Flow rights are great and they install nicely up the front on the opposite side to the reverse handle. There are a few threads on it.

    Mod the OEM Waterbox for little cost to help flow, see dannys threads on flow work for full details.

    Hey, thanks for your input Badvgood.

    Yeah the air ducting I got is more like the one you linked to. Some sort of industrial vacuum thing =)
    I also purchased a 90deg silicone bend for the sharp bend to the SC.

    Guess I could cut the ducting, make a coupler and weld in a fitting for the hose from the engine.

    Snakeskin? Will research flow rights.

    As for bilge pump I was going to install the 500gph pump. But after some 'recent events' let's say, I might go for the 1000gph...

    I saw the DIY waterbox mod, not sure what to make of the different opinions, though.
    Maybe just drill holes in the baffle and leave the pipes as is.

    Edit: Just ordered the Ski Doo 'XP Nose- Left and Right snakeskin. Will block off the rear intake like you said and mount
    the snakeskin on the cowling. Thanks

    I saw a used Speedfreaks OEM rideplate in the classifieds. Are they interchangeable between RXP and X-models?
    Would be a nice upgrade, and I could install PRV's when the plate is off.

    NO the plates are not interchangeable. Going from an X setup to an RXP setup is going backwards in terms of safety anyway.
