PRO 785 no rpm on mfd

    Hey Guys

    I have a 97 SLX Pro 785 and i'm having some issues.

First off i'm getting 0 rpm on the mfd. It also reads 0 hours on the machine etc. I've done the MFD reset procedure and still have the same results. I haven't had an mfd issue up until now. It reads speed properly when driving. At the same time i lost power trim... does not work with the engine running.

    Thoughts?

Kinda stuck here at this point as the machine is running alright.

    Thanks

    Brent

I should add that i get a blip of RPM on the mfd... say up to 90 or so when i hit the starter... but after its spinning to start up it just reads 0... to the point of the mfd going to sleep when i ride.

Check your elec stator readings or LR module.

The yellow wire supplies a reading of the RPM

    Thanks for the response

    Yes, votage regulator.

    Inside the elec box.

Ohm test it with the repair manual specs.

To be clear, Ohm test is for the stator charging coil, not the LR module.

My guess is that you do not have battery charging either, and I would further imagine the stator coil is open.

Battery voltage should be roughly 13.5 volts to 14.5 volts with engine running if the charging system is working.

Cracked the electrical box and found the yellow wire mentioned disconnected. Reconnected, put back together, and all is well. How it came off i don't know. Never been in the box on this ski before.

    Thanks to both of you
