Buying a previously enjoyed kawasaki ultra.

Hello. I have been reading this forum for a few weeks now and i'm loving all the info you guys have. I'm looking at buying a 2008 Ultra Lx. The Ski has 21 hours on it. I was wondering if you guys could tell me what i should be looking for when i go see this thing? Also can you guys tell me what a fair price is for this ski, they are asking $8000 (too much i think). Thanks in advance

8K a bit steep. Got a golden trailer?....

21 hours isn't squat for time. Pull the seats look over the engine compartment very well. Look for corrosion on any surface.

Look at pump area closely for same. Check plugs. General hull/exterior condition. If alot of scratches from beaching pay close attention to:

Get under it and take a flash light and look at impeller/stator veins.

There is not alot to look for on one of these. It is a good ski, best all-around IMO.

Offer them 6K and go no higher. Even that is a little steep unless...Golden galvanized trailer w/tandem axle. (8K)

Is the seller in FL by any chance?

Welcome to the Hulk. $8,000 is extremely steep in my opinion. I got a deal on my 2008 STX15 (33 hours) but only paid $4,400 with a 2007 Karavan double trailer. 21 hours is not a lot at all so you're all set there. I'd check compression and inspect the engine area and jet pump. If possible, take it for a test ride (especially for $8,000). See if you can find a similar ski for sale at a local dealership and take at least $1,000 off of that price as a guide to what you should pay for his ski.

That there IS a pretty decent deal. Ultra LX's always seem to command at least a K more than a 15. Few and far between also.
