    2012 RXP-X Oil Change

Sorry to beat a dead horse of a topic but I have a couple of unanswered newb questions. There isn't a whole lot of info out there for the 2012's but I am thinking most info on previous years still apply. Better safe than sorry, eh?

    1. The FAQ talks about warming up the engine "on a hose" for a couple of minutes. I assume since I have a closed loop cooling system I don't have to worry about this (I don't even see a place to connect a hose)?

    2. The dealer told me never to keep it on more than 30 seconds out of the water. True?

    3. So far I got about 2.5 quarts of oil out but I haven't done the WOT/turn the engine for 10 seconds step. I assume I will get the rest from that?

    Thanks and you guys rock!

You will get between 2.5 and 3.5 max...Usually we get around 3..If you get more than 3.5, then it was overfilled!!

Hold the throttle wide open, crank the motor, suck the oil from where the oil filter is, it will fill up with oil as you crank for 10 seconds or so, do that a few times, I usually get just about all 4 quarts of mine

Always measure your oil that comes out and put the exact amount back.

Yep! So far I am at 2.5 quarts. I will tackle the rest after work tomorrow. Also need to get a damn torx socket for the oil filter.

the water connection is on the back left of the ski on the new tx not sure on the px...its either there or next to your stock exhaust exit. i prefer to bring my extractor with me to the lake and doo it after i ride so its hot and easy to get out. btw remember not to crank it over wot with the extraction tube down the dipstick. gL

An 8 mm socket works on the oil filter cap.
