    Fresh water corrosion

I just purchased a 2006 Yamaha fx ho and it has a whole bunch of white corrosion on the ride plate and intake grate. I was told that the ski sat in the water all summer long at the sellers camp on a fresh water lake. He was the original owner (i have the paperwork to prove it), so im assuming it sat it the water every summer for the past 6 years. Would being left in fresh water all summer long cause a lot of white corrosion on the ride plate and intake grate?

    Yes.
It's a high ph level in some lakes that causes that.
Sand it off well and your all set.

Ok will do. If i decide to remove the intake grate and ride plate to sand them down then what type of sealant should i use when i put them back on? Thank you very much for the feedback.

I've seen quite a few white pumps and plates on fresh water skis in Fl.
I thought I was being bull shitted a few times because they were pretty fubar from fresh water sitting...
