Fuel float replacement on 96 1050?

Hello - I'm finally getting around to replacing the small fuel float and have the 4 screws out on the tank bottom. There doesn't seem to be enough room to tip the tank enough to get at the column that holds the float. Is there a secret way to get this in without taking the whole top off the ski?
    Thanx, Ross

Remove the hoses from the sender, disconnect the elec box from it's mount to gain as much slack on the sender wires as possible,. Then remove sender.
