    Seadoo ECO Mode

    Hey Guys,

Looking to buy a Seadoo GTX 155 and I'm debating between 2010 and 2011, I'm saving $1200 if I'm going with 2010 and the only difference that I can think of between the 2 is ECO Mode. I do lot of touring but I just don't see how seadoo can claim 46% better fuel consumption over touring mode when the engine is the same, i know it's a different ECU so I'm looking for a feedback from someone that owns a ski with ECO mode

Each year, Sea-Doo does systematic improvments to their pwc. I would not be surprised if there were improvements done on the 2011 compaired to the 2010 that are not obvious at first glance... IMO. ECO controls you...lol! limits acceleration and top speed to reduce consumption... you can do it!

I've got five 2011 GTSs and two 2010 GTI 130s that I rent in Florida. The 2011 is much more efficient than the 2010, but I don't really think it's 40%. I'd believe 20-30%.

The downside is that we've found the new wiring harness to be unusually susceptible to water infiltration and corrosion. Most of our employees also find that the 2010 hull is more responsive, stable, and enjoyable than the 2011. If you can, I suggest renting them to see if you prefer one over the other.

Renting before buying is very smart.
It sucks buying something and not being 100% happy...

Unfortunately where I live I can not find any gtx's for rent, I got to try both 2010 and 2011 this weekend, can't tell the difference between the two but there was no way for me to test eco mode.

I bought a 2012 GTX 215 with ECO mode. My ski in ECO mode limits you to 6000 RPM which is ~45mph (give or take). In ECO, I can easily get 3.5-4 hours on a tank, maybe more if I didn't stay at 45mph the entire time.

It is more fuel efficient than my old 03 GTX SC... but I'd say it boils down to if you want to save the coin.

    Hi Kyle,

Thanks for the info that's helpful, I bit the bullet and got the 2010 gtx, at around ~45mph my fuel consumption reads 5gph if you don't mind next time you are on the water and are using eco mode let me know what your fuel consumption is reading maybe that will give me a better idea.

Is yours getting any water inside ? I went from an 08 GTX 155 which would always stay dry inside but with this one I noticed yesterday there was quite some water inside otherwise i love it.
