2012 FZS bouncing at high speed

    Hi Everyone
My FZS only has R&D intake grate... Is it typical for this ski to bounce at speed around 55MPH+? It feels like riding over potholes.. Any idea how to correct the problem? Thanks in advance. Vincent

No that is not typical on a stock FZS.
We have two of them and neither one of them did that in stock form.
I suggest returning it to the dealer; tell them you want them to test it out on the water, you may have a ride plate issue also tell them to make sure your transom plate is trued with the pump tunnel.

Isn't the 2012 redesigned? Maybe it's a problem with the newer ones. I don't know, I hope you have a good dealer/mech that helps you out.

Interesting. Never heard of getting bounce on a stock FZ with only an intake grate change. Did you put the plug kit in, too?

I does not have a plug kit. The bounce seem to go away if I have a kid infront of me. It feels like the ski goes too fast on the water and cause vibration everytime the bottom hit the waves. By the way I am 160 lbs. I have been using neutral trim. Do you think lowering the trim will help? Thanks all.

Before going to the stealership put your stock grate on and ride.
If it still does it then let them fix it under warranty.

I would try trim at +1 and -1 and see if that helps. Also, look at your ride plate...make sure its not crooked looking or sitting lower than the pump. Take a look at your intake also, make sure the bolts are tight and everything.

If it doesn't bounce with the stock grate, I'd try putting the plug kit in when you put the R&D grate on.

But then again, feeling some vibration when the bottom slaps a wave top is not abnormal.
