    Flame Arrestor Removal

    Hello all,

I am looking for pictures of the flame arrestor in the intake manifold. Also any pointers on how to remove it without the Riva kit. The exploded parts diagram does not show the FA only the intake manifold as one unit.

    I am working with a 2012 RXT260

    Thanks

I am unsure if the setup is the same as for my 08 rxpx (I am assuming it is), but it is a PITA to remove through the throttle body. Some others here that have done the job a few times might chime in with an efficient way to remove it. Personally, I would buy Rivas kit. It took me hours, and the flame arrestor came out in many pieces

Here is what mine looked like before removal and the tools I used. I ground a V in the blade of the pry bar for splitting the screen and used the long needle nose to pull it out. Harbour Freight had the tools for about $20. It took me about 4 hours from taking off the seat to heading for the lake.

Thanks for the replies, I will tackle this when I get back to the house.

Is the FA secured inside the manifold, or is it just wedged in between the two pieces of the manifold?

just wedged in there... a screwdriver, side cutters, needle nose pliers and some patience will all be needed...
