a ten on the tragedy meter

It can't be any more tragic than this:

Authorities have identified the two New Mexico residents who were killed Friday when their teenage daughter’s personal watercraft collided with theirs on Lake Powell.

The Associated Press identified the couple as Russell and Wendy Gallegos, both 44, of Fairview, N.M.

The couple died after they were struck by their 15-year-old daughter, who was taken to a hospital for treatment but later released, the AP reported.

The National Park Service said the family was sightseeing on two personal watercraft near Peekaboo Arch in the San Juan arm of Lake Powell when one watercraft slowed and was hit by the other.
The crash remained under investigation Sunday, but authorities say drugs and alcohol were not involved in the crash. -

It was a bad boating week for New Mexicans. In another tragedy, right here at our lake, a 3 year old was struck by a prop and killed after falling off the front of the family pontoon boat

A split second of inattention is a vital ingrident of most accidents. Pay that extra bit of attention and help prevent tragedy.

I share this in the hopes that somebody will avoid an accident by being aware of the potentials.

We all will say "How could this happen?"
