97 SLT 780 MFD LED light question !!!

Just purchased this 97 SLT and was having trouble with battery. Display did not light up very well at all. Well come to find out we had some bad connections at battery and we repaired those . Was also having trouble getting engine to turn over. After finding loose connections at battery and repairing them , the engine turns over and it starts very easy. My only question I have now is that the LED light in center top of the MFD stays on all the time, even when the engine is off. We have not taken ski out into the water yet since having the wiring issues taken care of. But before i had the previous problems of not starting and shutting off at WOT as mentioned in 2 previous posts, the LED light was not on. I have done some research on here but am really not sure what the LED constantly on stands for. Could anyone please help me out in this matter or should I be seeking the services of a Polaris repair facilty.... Thanks in advance to any replies i recieve

The LED light sould never be solid on. My guess is the MFD is toast. The only thing you can try is a reset described under the "MFD" section in the link below.

I agree it SHOULDN'T turn the LED on all the time.

But theoretically the MFD could just have condensation/corrosion in it causing that issue and not a fried brain. The LED is just fed on the common side into a sinking output on the brain chip, any corrosion or short below the current-limiting resistor could cause it to be on all the time.

There are some lovely threads on here about taking the MFDs apart and cleaning them up and even repairing/replacing components. If you are competent, take a look at them.

If not, I'll take it for $5 shipped.

Could you point me to some threads where they talk about replacing components? Have not seen any, but would be very interested. Ive taken a few apart with water damage and all are unrepairable. Ive traced out a few of the 5 v power regulators and some of the button inputs.

Typically these units are not repairable. Ill offer $5.01 Shipped
