Remote transmitter lost
Guys, A buddy of mine has lost his remote transmitter for his FZS. Yes he has got a spare, however just for back up, how can he get another coded for the particular machine?

It'll take a dealer with the correct "Entry Box" hardware. The YDIS won't program a remote. If he has no dealer access (which I think is a problem where you are, from your earlier posts), it's going to be an issue. The Entry Box must be physically connected to the wiring harness to program the replacement remote. I suppose he could buy a replacement remote and keep it handy in case the ski is ever available for dealer service.

I shall ask him to contact the Yamaha dealer here and try out luck.. Most likely he won't be able to do it as we have been told. Thanks.

If he has access to a certified dealer, perhaps he can see if the dealer is willing to order the necessary part (it was #90890-06599-00, unless there's been an update) to allow programming. Your friend may even want to offer to help w/ the cost of the part, if it's excessive. I'm sure Yamaha keeps a tight leash on those, so finding one outside legitimate channels won't be easy.

This just occurred to me, not sure how viable. He might be able to remove the receiver and ship everything to a certified dealer for programming. If he sent the working transmitter it would prove he was the legitimate owner. I'm sure they'll want registration paperwork copies too. I'd pick a reputable dealer, maybe one you've used a few times before in the past.
If doable, there are lots of questions. Labor would be higher, not sure how the receiver would hold w/ out battery on return shipment, etc. And if it goes wrong, it could go VERY wrong.

Say for instance i do purchase the part (#90890-06599-00) through the dealer we bought our skis from in the States, or we could send the remote and receiver to him since he knows we bought the skis from him. Would that part program the remote? The yamaha dealer here doesn't even stock the bare minimal for regular services so i highly doubt he will have this part on him to program it for us.
