Ultra 150 Intake grate- seal it?
I just got a 2001 Ultra, just had the pump rebuilt and new impeller installed by the previous owner. I want to either get the R&D intake grate, or mod the stock one. I notice that the current intake grate does not have any silicone on the gaps between the grate and the bottom of the hull- should there be? On the inside of the intake grate, where it meets the inner part of the hull, there is silicone there already.
Is there anything else that should be sealed as well? Ive read something about bypass holes.

The first time I installed my SM Rideplate, I printed this out and took it in the garage with me - armed with 1 tube of silicone "in-hand"
I generally seal the sides of the intake grate, where it meets the hull, and the region where the rideplate and the intake grate meet.
If you install the SM Rideplate - those 2 holes that "channel up" to the pump area are not open on the SM Rideplate (eyeglass holes). Hence, each time, I just paked them full of the GE silicone sauce.
HTH, and Good Luck!!!
