Wear Ring Rubber v/s Stainless Steel

Have a 00 gp1200r with a solas..has a factory SS on it now but wanted to change to a rubber because its a little better clearance to the imp. and cheaper to get a insert....or should i stick with the SS that will prob. wear my imp. down after awhile....So what the Pros & Cons of both.....Thanks

I havent had a problem with the plastic liners yet. For 30 bucks a pop, you change it every year. If youre riding in areas where theres a chance you will suck up alot of crap, or alot of exposure to saltwate, I would go with a plastic.

+1 on plastic rings..at least around the lake here the granite bits on the bottom of the lake are waiting to destroy your ss ring and prop. For ocean I'd want ss to make short work of any floating debris that might find it's way in there. ou can get pump housingfor yamaha that take a plastic ring for about the same money as an oem housing with ss.

no it wont fit on a ss you would have to buy the housing with the plastic ring already in it and then you can just replace the ring when you need to for about $30.... the complete housing with the plastic ring is much cheaper than oem theres alot of aftermarket ones out there...

No, You will need to order the housing with the plastic wear ring then you can just replace the ring after it wears out.
