    1999 GP1200, We might have a problem...

Hey guys, I just bought this thing thinking it needed a carb rebuild. I got the intake off today and found this:

It had 80 psi of compression in the middle cylinder when I went to check it out before purchase. The outer cylinders had 100 psi each. So how screwed am I?

All the way. Sorry. Hope you got it for cheap because that compression you read before you bought should of sent you running.

Just pull it apart and see looks like you might have to resleeve it.

Send the head out to get milled. Got some damage on your hands. I'm guessing you could send out middle to have redone, along with new piston kit

Do you see all that metal on the middle intake from his first post? The crank is most likely toast.

Crank is NOT trashed. Why would you think this?

    Mill head,
    Oversize all pistons,
    Remove oil injection,
    Rebuild with good gaskets...
    Enjoy.

When my motor grenaded, I did the same thing. Hell I flushed the motor with a pressure washer and just did 10hrs perfect in the Gulf of Mexico. Just clean it out good and rebuild. These old 2 strokes are notorious for this.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm gonna give SBT a call tomorrow. I paid $900 for the ski with a single trailer so I still think I'm ahead of the game if I have to throw a thousand bucks at it to get it seaworthy. I'm comfortable doing all the wrenching myself.

I'd def tear motor apart and clean everything including cases and crank. Replace seals and bearings if shavings found

You're saying your motor grenaded and you didn't split the cases to inspect the crank? I wish you the best of luck, just sayin, 10 hours doesn't mean you're free and clear.
