I am hung up on what to do next to get this impeller off of the shaft. I removed the nut from teh impeller duct end. the bearing is pressed on. does the impeller unscrew from the shaft side?

Comes off from shaft side. But youll still need a shaft holder tool from the store, a big vise and some big wrenches!! Its tighter than a MOTHA.

STOP!!! No need to remove nut from rear. Put that back on.

It's pretty simple if you have the right tools.
    Breaker bar
1" 6pt socket from sears( to hold impeller spline tool) http://www.4-tecperformance.com/inde...roducts_id=942
    Big ass pipe wrench

if you do not have the tools to get it off or its so tight you cannot , remove the shaft from the pump with the prop still on and put some heat in the rear of the prop it will come off pretty easy then.

sweet. thanks guys. much appreciated. i think the new impeller comes with the spline tool to put on the shaft. the book says 248 or so ftlbs of torque so yes that is tight like prom night.

no spline tool is separate. props are supposed to come with wrench sometimes the guy filling boxes forgets.

get some aluminum anti seize too , put it on splines before reinstalling to boat. Also put some on threads of prop and prop shaft. this will make sure it doesn't bind too badly for the next time you remove your prop.

as far as dealers with proper tools. Do not over estimate their knowledge or stock of tools. It is stifling what they do not know or have. worst case scenario . pm me ...
