Rxt-x 260 & rxp-x 260
Can anyone advise why the 2012 RXP-X is so much quicker and faster than the 2012 RXT-X. Surely it's not just the weight difference alone. Do they have different jet units?

Put simple, RXT-X better in choppy water, RXP-X is more of a close course racer. Personaly i love my RXT-X because it handles well in any condition which i love. It handles great in the smooth water and carves the water well and keeps hooked up in the chop also. But nothing compares to the RXP-X in tight corners.

RXP - T3 hull it is a deep V design and about 11" shorter than the RXT. Two seat, can not legally tow a skier
RXT - S3 hull Hull design is made to handle chop and keeps the rider higher off the water. Three seat can tow skier
On the SEA-DOO site or their dealers site you can do a side by side comparison.

I own a 12 RXT260, and have ridden a friends '10 RXP255.
They are different in the handling and feel. Straight line power feels pretty close to the same if you discount the 2 year age difference.

My 2010 rxtx 260 pulls out the hole up to 60 faster than any stock ski out there, I don't think a stock rxpx 260 is any faster stock. I fact it's easier to get speed out of the S3 hull when modified. I am at 74 with just a SCOM.

Okay did not know that it was legal in Texas
I think that most riders on this site are not worried about towing. Just something to look in to if buying for recreational use.

I have both, and hop back and forth all day between them. I don't know where you're getting the idea one is any faster than the other, since it's definitely not true. In fact, other than the RXP-X being more "tippy" and a vastly better (and different) turning machine, you'd not know the difference if it wasn't for the RXT-X seat and riding position being much more comfortable.
