    submerged sl780

I started a thread last week about my sl780 that I had never run. Rebuilt carbs, etc. Had issues but got it running fairly well.
Well, I had put on a hose flush adapter, but apparently did not tighten it enough. It vibrated loose and my son ended up
    with a submerged ski.

    1) Do you guys recommend engine teardown? If not what should I do? I have taken off carbs, reed cages, heads and used lots of WD40 to displace the water.
    2) I was working on taking cylinders off but found that I can't remove exhaust pipe/manifold because 2 of the pipe bolts hit the hull just inside the opening before
they are completely free. Have to remove exhaust to get at cylinder bolts. Manual says to remove these bolts. What?? Has anyone come across this before?
    3) Decided to remove engine from mounts to move enough to remove bolts, but don't want to chance getting alignment /shims messed up.
    4) Can I avoid this teardown and get this thing back in the water? I could not roll it over immediately after submerging. It has now been several days and I am sure there is still water/WD40 in crankcase. I have rolled it over to drain water from reed cage side. And rolled it over to drain to exhaust.
    5) Now that it is this far apart I would rather be safe than sorry, so taking the cylinders off is OK, but I can't get it apart without loosening/removing mounts. Any Advice?

    Thanks,

    Gary

You do not need to take the engine mounts loose. You just need to "persuade" the top lip/side of the ski to get enough room to remove the exhaust bolts. A long 2 x 4 is a good persuasion device........ On my 94 SLT hull, I can pull the lip back enough with my hand to remove the bolts....

Got it!. The hull is more flexible than I would have thought. Thanks again!
