    Question FZR 100 Hour maintenance

    Hi all,

Since my FZR is now out of warranty and with almost 100 hours, i'm going to do the periodic maintenance myself.

I'm going to follow the service manual for the 100 hour maintenance:

    Replace Spark plugs
    Replace Oil
    Replace Oil filter
    Replace Air filter
    General lubrication

For the "Internal Engine Components Lubrication" the manual recommends "rust innibitor". Can I use Fluid Film?

    Any general recommendations?

    Thanks

    You can use fogging oil.

Fluid Film is excellent for protecting the exterior of the engine. One application of it lasts a long time. I used to use the Yamalube stuff and had to put it on about every 3 or 4 rides. I put fluid film on it about a year ago, and water still beads off the engine. It's not made for the engine internals, though. If I remember right, it's a lanolin based oil (like the oil in sheeps wool).

trek_b; you're on the right track there. The ski you have is very low maintenance; we have nearly 400 combined hours on our FZ's now and they aren't fussy. instead of replacing the OEM air filter you can get a cheap one at the auto parts store and improve your performance at the same time.

Yep, don't use Fluid Film for the internals.........fogging or storage oil is what you need to use.
