The 99 XL Limited had issues with the origional sponsons, and I understand there was a recall; the boat was just all over the place with the origional ones, felt like it was slipping side to side. I know that there were updated sponsons that fixed the problem. I have the XLT sponsons on my XLL, but they are not the same, so I can't compare the two. I'm happy with the XLT ones, and they are not expensive.
From what I can gather, the best aftermarket sponsons are Beach House; Riva sells some too. I think this is a question for Jim, I'm gonna PM and ask his his input on this. You have me curious now.

I have the Riva sponsons so I have a set of the 01 which is the updated OEM sponsons if you interested in buying them. It looks like they are 45 dollars for both of them. I will sell them for 20 bucks +shipping. I had to use the mounting bar with the studs on the new ones. If your old plate with threads doesnt match the hole pattern on your old one it looks like 20 bucks/each for those. Anyway you need the other pieces to make up the parts which is a nut washer and small spacer its 3 dollars a side. You will need that hardware if you dont have them already.

What are you looking to correct then? The sponsons are for turning at low speeds and chine walking side to side. If your trying to fix the side to side motion this will improve it quite a bit. The Riva set and BEach house set are going to run you $200!!!! If your tryingto correct the poropsing then you need the usual intake grate and ride plate

Just another thought the 5 degree nozzel will help you in the chop as well.
