    Anybody else think Riva's pricing for 2012 rxpx parts is CrAzY?

    I am just lining up some parts for my new ski and does anybody else think that Riva's pricing is crazy for this new 2012 stuff.

    I mean come on $480 for an air intake?? Even if you take in to account jerrys discount im still sacraficing my left nut.

    Its a bit of 4 inch tube with an adapter and filter.

    I have been in the game along time and i think thats crazy!

    I think all of riva's stuff is crazy high but I always tell myself "gotta pay to play".... It sucks but in the grand scheme there isnt a huge market for pwc go fast parts. I guess that's why there isn't a ton of supplier options out there.

    Yep, if most of these parts were for a lawnmower they would be 50$ tops.

    I do not have any direct knowledge, but based on similar experience I would estimate a smaller actual profit margin than an automotive or hardware retailer is involved in these relatively small run production of aftermarket parts.
    If large profits were being made other players would be entering the market for sure.
    The tooling for injection molding of plastic parts is a large fixed expense, the cost has to be applied to how many parts you expect to sell. For a 2012 model there are not many ski's yet on the water, thus a small quantity production run with the part manufacturer means a high unit part cost.
    If Riva were to factor in the development time, testing, mock up fabrication, etc. Riva may not currently be breaking even, but is counting on more unit sales down the road to eventually get payback for his efforts.
