Brand new to forum and pwc

Just found this site and it looks great. I have limited search ability on my phone so I wanted to ask a couple newbie questions. I have never owned a ski before but want to jump into a 3 seater. What do you guys like (I know some people are very brand loyal). I was looking at the kaw 300x. Not really concerned with cost I just want the best ski out there. Sorry for the newbie question tgat I'm sure has been asked a million times. Also would there be any issue between a left over new 11 kaw as opposed to a 12 vs waiting for a 13

    Welcome to GreenHulk.

Where do you plan on riding most? Rough water, smooth water?

Oh and it sounds like you already have your mind made up to buy a Kawasaki.

Don't have my mind made up but the kaw is the only ski I've seen in person. Will be ridden mostly in river calmer water. No salt water

best thing that you can do is go to the dealerships and go for a test drive to find the one that you like and not what everyone else prefers. I thought that I wanted a kawi when I first started riding but loved the Doo more...it depends on what fits you best really.

If I rode mostly smooth water then I would buy a 2012 Rxpx. Oh, hey, I did.

X2 on riding them first. You will find many different opinions if all smooth water riding or small bumps rxpx would prob be my choice. They all have there's positives and negatives. That being said I love my 300.

You should look into the following for any brand
    Where you ride
    Distance of rides
    # of passengers
    How much storage
    Maintenance
    Distance to dealer
    Ergonomics / features.

Ride them all and go from there good luck.

If you can test drive them, then do. But if you are in an area like me, you can't. If you are running smooth water, then any ski is fine for the most part.

Skis basically come in three flavors:

Luxury skis - lots of bells and whistles/creature comforts
Performance - less bells, more speed, accel, handling
Budget - less performance and bells. Ski for folks with a tighter budget or possibly those that want great gas mileage most importantly

First thing to do is pick what you want out of those. Then, do you plan on modding it or keeping it stock? Are you going to ride by yourself, with another person on the ski, with two other people on the ski? Are kids involved? Going to be towing much? All of these help point you along the way.

Well my town pretty much narrowed it down. The only pwc dealer within an hour sells ski doo and Kawasaki and they will not be a ski doo dealer after this year. They are the only ones around with a dedicated mechanic and tank......looks like 300x it is

Think you mean sea doo not ski doo. I would say whatever dealer sells that is close to you. Personally I have always been a fan of Yamaha, had older kawi standup but other than that rode mostly yamahas and prefer them over sea doo for better maintenence and just really like the way they look and ride! Good luck tho I'm sure you will enjoy any brand you decide to purchase!!

I have 2 doos, but honestly I would love to have a 300 to ride in the Gulf with.
