    rxpx 255 problem

    Hey guys,

So I was on the water this evening with my seadoo and it was working fine all day then all of a sudden under I noticed I was revving high but wasn't really going anywhere. Like that feeling you get when you are plugged with seaweed. From dead stop i'd give it gas and rev like 6700 to 7000 and hardly move. There is no lights showing on dash and the engine seems to be working fine but i'm just not moving. What do you guys think is wrong? impellor? spark plug? Hope it's nothing to serious.

If anyone can help my out it would greatly be appreciated! It's a 2010 rxpx 255 incase the year matters. Thanks!

Check your prop and wear ring.
Sounds like there is something caught up in there or you sucked something thru and damaged your wear ring.
Either way its not to serious.

I've had it happen with a small stick wedged in there.

Can you get it up on the plane at all?

As was said above, it could be something caught in your prop or you could have damaged your wear ring.

If your prop and wear ring look fine, you may need to check out the splines on the impeller side of your driveshaft. I had symptoms like yours, and kept riding till the drive shaft splines stripped completely in the impeller.

Bad shaft. Pull the jet pump and have a look.

The only thing is when this happened I wasn't in shallow water so I doubt it was a rock or anything. If it was a stick or something i'd likely be able to see it. Is a wear ring expensive if thats what it is? How do I find the wear ring. Sorry I'm new to seadoos lol

The wear ring is the plastic ring that the outer tips of your impeller blades spin inside, minimal clearance between the blades and ring are desired. Look to see if the ring has some grooves in it. If memory is correct I think your looking for about .035 clearance between the two on a new ring (somebody can verify this and post to be sure).

wear rings are between $40 and $80 depending on where you get them, easy to change too if your somewhat mechanically inclined and have a few tools

I have a bunch of nicks on my impeller. I checked it this morning. Would that do it? I'm going to replace it regardless that and the wear ring. What kind of impeller should I get?
