    Slx lost spark

    Dammit

Weird deal - ran great for the last two weeks not a single issue - parked it after riding last week and went to fire last night and nothing.... Guess I'm gonna run through testing stator etc - tried bilge button and pulling the blk/y wire -

Check your battery. These domestics ignitions are so finicky with batteries its not funny. I would never run anything less than an Odyssey battery on the domestic triples.

Yeah, its an Odyssey in there and cranking voltage was good. Im gonna need help on this one, I think. So to elaborate on my first post....ran perfect for about 7 hours of ride time since I have owned it. I towed it home from NC last week and fired it up when I got home to show a friend of mine....it fired fine. When I went to start it the other day, nothing.

Here is what I tested tonight:

    - Disconnected MFD - still no spark
    - Tried bilge button trick - still no spark
    - All connections in box felt good, no corrosion
    - Blk/Y wires for kill switch tested fine
    - red/pur had 12 volts
    - stator resistance all tested perfect
    - coil wires on primary side all tested perfect

Here's where it gets tricky (or maybe not):

    - CDI brown wire while cranking - 18 volts (if this meant that the CDI was bad, then I tried the 9V battery trick)
    - Jay trick in other post - with 9V battery connected to brown wire (stator side) - still no spark

I haven't checked ground continuity through the plug wires....

What should I do next? I don't want to go through the effort of replacing the stator and/or the expense of replacing the cdi without knowing that is the problem

    2001 SLX 1200 BTW

I would guess CDI. That's what fixed my pro when I bought it not running.

Brown wire from CDI has 18 volts! Not 1.8 volts?

    ummm....maybe. 18 doesn't make sense does it.
I ordered a new CDI today...hopefully that is the cure.

Thought I had ordered one, but company called and said they don't have any more. Anyone know where to find one? Marto has them, but at a ridiculous price.
