    Drive shaft O-rings

Looking at the Polaris drive system assembly diagram on the Polaris parts on line catalog. This is for a 1999 slx 1050. The o-rings #2 & #5 at each end of the drive shaft. How critical are they? I have the rubber bumpers but no o-rings. What is the o-rings needed for? I'm not sure where they would go? On the shaft or at the end of it

The bumpers on the end of the driveshaft aren't as critical as the big o ring on the impeller side, that needs to be there to keep the water away from the splines so the splines stay greased. I would make sure they are all there if you have it apart.

I think big o-ring I have. It doesn't have a part # but I was sure it sealed the splines from water in the pump and stays on the shaft. Its the 2 o-rings at each end of the shaft by the bumpers what are they for. #2 and #5

#5 is what RLACEMAN is talking about sealing the impeller / driveshaft splines from getting water to them.... Not sure on the #2
