    Different oil readings

Have anyone of you noticed that you get different oil readings on the dipstick depending if the handle on the dipstick pointing
at left or right, whitch way should it point to get the correct reading?
    At left=high
    At right=low
Almost forgott, its a ultra 300lx
    Kind regards from cold Sweden

Read your owner's manual page 57.
The dip stick has "cold" and "hot" side.

Helps to pull the dipstick (partially) and let the oil equilibrate for a minute and check again

Yes, but i meen that the reading depends on how the handle points when you put it down the dipstic tube , not the cold and hot side.

thats why i responded with my view as i experience the same doing what i do stops the issue i have the ring on the RHS of the ski..

once the oil has completly settled it becomes accurate both sides of the stick, level your ski with a bubble level and give it a try over a few days it will settle and read the same each time you dip it.

I found this thread when searching...After my dealer did oil change, (5 qrts) I put the 300 away for the winter.

Begining of this year I consistent had low COLD oil leve on the COLD side of the dipstick, ski was on level. Ran fine, checked hot mark at the launch after adding about 1 qrt, seemed ok.

Now, I am getting reading just below the bend in the dipstick when cold and high when hot too WTF??

Any thoughts before I tell dealer I am an idiot and have him extract half a quart outta the ski? (NOTE ski still runs and idles fine)

my thoughts would be to buy an oil sucker and do it yourself. for the cost you'll spend at the dealer you can buy your own and be able to do your own oil changes and have full control over how much oil gets put in! its not hard to do, we can help ya! hahaha
