    1996 Seadoo Xp 800 Non-Starting (Video Inside)

    Last time out ran perfect.

Pulled the plugs, turn over and all it does is whine. No kicking of the starter etc. Just this whine. Starter to touch is extremly hot!!!! Video will explain it all. Battery is fully charged and backed up by another battery.

Looking to go to lake right away dammit!

    UPDATE:

I just tried jumping the soleniod with a flat head screw driver and nothing is happening, which I know should do something...like kick it over

Changed the solenoid 3 times to 3 different solenoids and no more whine just clicking.

I'm leaning towards starter which I just noticed its a SBT starter

Pull the starter - it is jammed - externally againest flywheel or internally with a broken magnet...

before pulling the starter ( which may be junk by now if you were hitting it for a few minutes with the engine locked up) try turning the pto by hand..if you can turn the engine, then go ahead and pull the starter. On low cost rebuilds ( especially Chinese made starters) sometimes the little c-clip that keeps the bendix on the shaft pops off and the bendix will jam

stop hitting the button..under the best circumstances the solenoids are rated for 30 seconds tops and with a stalled starter..you can melt one in half that time.

now if you can't turn the engine

1-check pump for major obstruction ( like a rock) jamming the pump
2-pull the pump..( in the event you had oil loss and a bearing meltdown)
3-get the wallet out..as all of this starts getting far more expensive with #4
    4-your engine has siezed

red hot starters melt the o-rings that (help) keep water out..so plan on a new starter after you determine why the engine won't turn

this ain't you're first rodeo from what I can see so get to work!

I CAN turn PTO by hand.

Is it true to pull the starter, I need to remove an engine mount?

can't say for sure, but I know on similar smaller hulls( GTS) with 717's I had to pull a mount I would think with the compact hulls it's a pretty good bet you will

engine turning is very very good.. I'd wager a magnet came off the housing and has jammed the starter.

Use great care in sticking your hands in there..sharp edges can just ruin your day. A mirror and a very bright light are our friends here.

You don't need to remove an engine mount. Three bolts on the front, one at the rear. Removing the plastic air box makes it easier.

we are right back to where it started - Pull the starter...

This was the clue - "No kicking of the starter - Just this whine. Starter to touch is extremly hot!!!! "
