    Sucked Up Wakeboard Rope---Please Help

Idling the other day in neutral, rope accidently went under VXR, and sucked up rope. One end cut off, other rope instantly killed motor and wont come out.

How hard is it to remove? Would you guys/gals think it bent impeller if it was idling and killed it?

How hard to remove grate and fix, and is there a seal kit or anything on it? Torque pattern and specs?

Thanks for the help----don't want to get bucked off cuz I didn't replace grate correctly. Should I just get the dealer to do it?

It's pretty common actually; big tube ropes can be worse.
No dealer required; remove grate, pull or cut rope off as needed, inspect for damage (hopefully none) replace grate with a little blue loctite on bolts; test out and avoid ropes in the future; read and recite no. 5 on the list below 10 times and get your azz back on the water...

It is very common--- almost a rite of passage for new pwc and jetboat owners!

I bought a very long fish filet knife (9 inch blade) that I carry with me when I ride--- It's very thin and long and makes it easier to slice the rope off the impeller. I carry the 2 sockets and a socket wrench that fit my intake grate in case I in need to take it off to reach the rope.
It is better to pull the grate but if you are out riding and cut the rope out without taking the grate off, make sure there is no vibration or anything else "strange" going on. Then when you get home, pull the grate and make sure everything is Ok.

    Here's the knife I use----
