    1100 STX bent connecting rod

    1997 STX 100 with only 100 hours. Bent rod on #3 cylinder. Bottom end was full of oil / gas. Didn't expect to see this. What might have caused the crankcase to fill up with oil. Any suggestions about repairing / replacing bent connecting rod, greatly appreciated.

    Well, it sounds like the top end had liquid in it. Perhaps the most common cause is running the engine on the flush hose, then shutting off the engine and letting the water to continue to run. This fills the exhaust system and it flows backwards into the cylinders.

    You'll either need to buy another crank assembly or send it some a crank repair service (Hot Rods, etc.).
