    Red face 1996 seedoo gtx

New jet ski owner. I bought a adult owned jet ski yesterday that looked almost new. It has 74to hours on it. Took it to the lake today. Started right up and ran out at 52mph at 7000rpm. Rode it around the lake for ten minutes by myself and then stopped by to get my daughter and son, rode it for another 5 minutes and then it died on me. Turned it back on and the screen read maintenance. Now i am able only to getvthe engine running smoothly at 5000rpm maybe 35mph. Turning it off and then back on helps. Letting the pwc sit for 45minutes i can get it back up to 7000rpm. Any help or advice. First timer. Thanks.

Search the forum.. gone over a bunch of times when purchasing a new ski and what to look out for. Old grey fuel lines, 7000 rpms seems a bit much should see around 6700-6900 on a stock ski. Your engine could be seizing from clogged carbs...

Try changing the spark plugs first.

If he has grey tempo fuel lines spark plugs wont do anything.

I put spark plugs in today and it ran great for 10 minutes and then back to the inconsistent rpm. I could turn it off and run it at 5000 rpm for about 3-5 minutes and then it would act up again. Im still puzzled. If It would only run like it does when completely cool I would be happy. Shelby

Time to take the carbs off and clean the internal filters. Replace the fuel lines as well as everyone else has stated. Also, check the oil pump alignment on the front of the engine to make sure it isn't dumping excessive oil into the the engine.

there is a sticky at the top of the 2 stroke section that you need to read about cleaning the fuel system. clean the carb screens, change the needle and seats, clean the fuel selector, and change the fuel lines. dont forget the oil supply lines too.those tend to crack and suck air
