    xlt1200 reverse plate wont budge

I have a 2004 Yamaha 1200XLT. The nut that connects the reverse cable to the reverse deflector is broke. I purchased this ski used and now want to get the reverse working. I can move the connection on the left side where the cable should be hooked to but can budge the deflector plate at all. Is there something holding this in the up position like a lock of some sort. I have looked it over and can't see anything such as a lock. Help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Yakski

Yes there is, On the left, there should be a silver spring loaded tab, you lift it up, and tha gate should drop down. For some reason I can't upload pics to show you. But, You may have to take the pressure off the gate, and push it forward while releasing the tab
