polaris 1050 sltx ran great for 15 min now wont go over 38mph

Had the ski worked on and they put in a used cdi (is that the little square box with all the wires?). They also put in new carb kits. Everything ran fine for about 15 min. parked the ski and next time out i could tell it did not have full power. It gradually got up to 38 mph. I have checked compression and spark and all is good there. do you have any suggestions?

Did you turn off the gas between runs?

    Does choke help?

Have not tried choke at full speed. or take off for that matter. The gas on?off switch and water seperator was removed to eliminate possible fuel problems before cdi was replaced.

Does it 'blubber like a schoolgirl drinking her first pint' as it tries to get up to speed? If so it is probably rich. Maybe something in the carbs went all wonky. Seat stuck open or something just came loose.

In general if the choke helps, it's lean. In your case it will probably kill it dead to pull on the choke.

Compression and spark means nothing left but fuel/air mix and timing.

I did mess with the carb setting since and it seemed to get worse. now it will not start very easy and it only goes 34 mph. I adjusted the screw 1 turn out as suggested. Which way should I go from there? how do you adjust the air mix or timing?

does not really flubber it just acts like it dont have much get up.

Not sure how the 1050 carbs work...do they have high and low screws?

In any case out is going to make it richer...I am guessing you don't want that.

Edit yeah you only have a low end screw. Messing with that is only going to affect the hole shot.

    Maybe the jetting is wrong?

also how do i know if the fuel pumps are working or not. when i press the throttle it sprayed fuel several times, but now nothing comes out when i press the trottle. (NOT CRANKING while pressing the throttle.
