06 RXP Issues, possible blown engine?
So here goes my first post.... Too bad its seeking advice.
I bought a 06 RXP with about 97 hours on it. The unit had been winterized in 09 and not run on water since. During the inital checkout, the engine fired up fine and "ran". On the first dip in the water, we pulled away from the dock and it died. After about 5 minutes, I was able to get it fired back up again, but it was seriously sputtering. I attempted to drive it and got it to about 30mph when it died suddenly. After reading the website, i fear that the exhaust valves were stuck open and the engine blew. I do not see obstructions in the intake. When I attempt to start, she just clicks... I am at a loss on where to start to look(besides looking at a mechanic for 120+ an hour).
I would also like to know if there are any independent mechanics lurking on here that live in the Denver area.
Thanks

Did you siphon old gas out and change the plugs?

OK, so here is some more news... Yes i changed the gas, no on the plugs. I pulled all 3 plugs. 2 and 3 had oil on them, 1 was smashed in... Somehow i think, changing the plugs will help this

A ski sitting that long with out being ran, no matter if it was winterized, there could be all kinds of things wrong. I would start simple with plugs and gas like BEECHFRONT said then go from there.

id pull all the plugs and look down inside the cylinders with a scope and see what it looks like in there.
i dont think changing the plugs will help, cause the other plug was smashed for a reason(what reason?)
do a compression test and see if you have lost compression.
check the oil level/condition of oil.
as or the clicking noice it sounds like a posible starter issues or engine is locked up.

I would just check compression first and check down the cylinder with a scope or flashlight to, do you have a pic of the plug that was smashed?

If a plug is smashed pull the head. No need to cause more damage.
