    I wrapped my skis

The title pretty much says it, so I just thought I'd share it in case anyone cares to go down this road.

My local sign guy pissed me off. Had one of my hulls for two months to use as a pattern, "Yeah...we can do any kind of wrap..." Two months later my hull was still sitting. So, I got frustrated and order my own wrap sheets online and did it myself. I'm realizing that it's pretty much the only way you learn anything about this "hobby" so I figured, why not?

I painted the hood and tower with Base/Clear and just needed to do something with the white after I removed the pink decals circa 90's as if the muppets threw up all over it. Had I know they would be sitting for two months, I probably would have painted the rest of the ski(s), but I thought this would at least be fun to try. I've gotten a lot of comments locally about these, and it is something a little different. Like anything, the first ski was a pain in the a** and a learning experience, and the second one took a fraction of the time.

For what it's worth, here are the pics.

That's why I did it myself. I DID find a guy...that owns a sign shop...and he still couldn't do it. Which is why this week I've been shopping for a vinyl cutter/printer, screen printing equipment and an embroidery machine so I don't have to keep relying on "professionals." I still have to finish some vinyl details, and I want to print my own dash decals, rear decals, and polaris bear (kicked up a notch, of course). I have about 4 more skis I want to fancy up, so it's worth the investment for me.

Try it. It isn't that hard, and once you get the hang of it, it goes pretty quick. I have no affiliation with the place I bought the material from (they are online), and I'm not sure if I'm allowed to plug them, but they were great to work with. If someone wants the link, let me know, or let me know if I can go ahead and post it here.

    Here's where I got them: http://powersportswraps.com/index.php

Pretty much any kind of pattern you want. I went with something that I could mess up without much notice. There are links to videos on their site that helped quite a bit. However, don't make the mistake I did of thinking that you "should" stretch it as opposed to you "can only if you have to." Another tip, is that since these things are so damn curvy, make a template out of masking paper, then cut it. The good thing, is that most of my skis are the same hull, so I'll be able to use them again.
