Riva SCOM RXP-X 2012 Top Speed unmodified.
I am looking at installing a Riva SCOM unit in my 2012 RXP-X.
Does anyone have any experience with this unit ?? Easy to install ?
I hate messing with electronics in fear of screwing up expensive modules or burning something out accidently in the process.
Does it truly free up the GPS and allow the machine to achieve its full potential in terms of its actual top speed.
The cottage is on a nice size lake that is never too rough, and I can barely get 70mph from the machine now....most of the time 69. It has 17hr on it. I asked another well known dealers service manager, and he felt the machine would become quicker at 20-25hrs, after the computer fully unlocks. I don't believe it, as the unlock happened at 5 hrs. He said there is an actual release inside the software that allow the machine to achieve approx 71-72 mph in Canada and it happens between 20-25 hrs ?????
I had a Riva Stage 1 kit in my 2008 RXT-X and it flew.....GPS tested at 75 mph. I am sadened that this new 2012 is only hitting 69, when it is clearly such a superior hull that slices through the water with so much less drag, that you would think with 260hp and a claimed 72 mph stock speed, that it would actually be true ??
first step....SCOM...if its true....then some minor other mods, but I have a 5yr warranty and I dont want to piss off BRP.....so I need to be gentle.
I woudl appreciate if any of you know if this SCOM is the real deal, or $250...of junk.

Never heard of the ecu fully unlocking @ 20-25 hrs
I am pretty sure all North American models are the same, only the overseas skis that would go 72.

Troy, did you achieve 77.7mph with just these mods? 2012 RXPX FA removed, 4"air, 08 IC with Riva IC tubing upgrade, Riva catch can, V-Tech, 15/20r.
Did the v-tech unlock the gps?

IMO, the SCOM is now a waste of money with the re-flash capability now. The reason is the SCOM ONLY removes the GPS speed limit, the 8040 rpm limit, and boost limits are still in-place with a stock ECU. Trust me, you will hit this 8040 rpm issue very quickly even with very good pitching of the impeller, 73-74 mph at best.

Clearly the best bang for the buck is a V-Tech re-flash, which removes all of these limits and raises the stock rpm limit!

"I am planning on other Mods later".........
If that is your plan, forget the SCOM.......put that $$$ towards VTech.
$389 for the Maptuner, + $600 for a tuning credit.

I have installed the Scom on my ski. It runs between 71 and 72 with 22 hrs on it.
