    Fuel Additive when using 87

    Hey, so I take a vacation every year to a local lake where they only have 87 available, I know that the RXP's are only supposed to be ran on premium and last year I had all kinds of knock sensor issues after running their 87 so i'm looking for ideas as to how i can boost the octane of the fuel. i do have access to 100 and 110 race fuel at a local shop as well as C10. What would you guys do?

    I'd go with VP StreetBlaze or C-10! 100 octane and unleaded! Or Avgas 100 low-lead.

    Other options:
    Torco Unleaded Accelerator additive (MMT)
    Amsoil Motorcycle additive

    So would you recommend just mixing it with the 87 to get it to a higher octane rating?

    I think I'd either haul 5 gallon cans or pull the ski to fill it up rather than use 87 gas in it.

    Stay away from Aviation fuel.
    Take 5 gallon cans full of your normal pump fuel. This way you can be confident filling up.
    OR
    Take a 5gal can with 110 for mixing.
    Here's a quick formula to figure your octane.
    x=87 (or whatever the pump says)
    y=110 (race fuel octane number)
    z= octane after mixing

    ((87x + 110y) / (x + y) = z

    Or
    Mix 1gal of 110 with 4gal of 87 for @91.6 octane.

    This has worked many years for me-with zero engine failures.

    If you use avgas or Torco, remove your O2 sensor.

    91 is the minimum and not the best for maximum performance
    Imo aim for 93 to 94 for a home mix
