Thread: intake grate

Has anyone ever tried sanding or filing the front part of an 800 grate where it bolts to the hull? I think it would raise the scoop of the grate a little causing less drag for top speed runs but how much is too much when doing this causing not enough water into the pump tunnel area??? I'm sure someone has had to try this at some point...right?

I put mine in the mill and trimmed it front and back just to square it up...i guess you could angle mill the front and back to decrease the angle, but you will also lessen your hook up....800 grates bounce your azz all over the lake if there is chop...but are a little faster top end.
