Rxp rattle noise at speed please help.

I have an 06 rxp with 77 hrs on it. I started noticing this rattle noise after I had Jerry rebuild the supercharger and also I added Rivas thru hull exhaust, and a new wear ring. I can start hearing it at about 40 mph and it sounds like a drive line rattle almost a bearing noise. The supercharger is working fine I'm getting 8060 rpms and about 71 mph with Rivas air intake and grate stock prop. I'm out of guesses I taped up my speedo wheel because that's what it sounds like (when you spin the wheel out of the water with your finger). But that didn't cure the problem. I checked the pump bearings they are tight as can be the only place I have just a little slack is at the back of the motor where the drive shaft goes into the pto cover. I can move it maybe a 1/32 to a 1/16 of an inch ..it's a very small amount. I'm also not leaking any oil out of the motor into the hull. I have a very small oil leak thru the brand new 25$ viton seal I had Jerry install in the supercharger but it is only a small amount. It will oalso only make the noise in the water above say 40 mph.

Does anybody have any ideas? It seems to me that it has started getting a little louder over the past 4 hrs of run time. Ive searched for a couple of weeks now and cant seem to find anybody else with this noise Thanks in advance for your help!

    Justin

Just pulled the supercharger and the bearings are in good shape. Will the carbon ring make noise? The wear looks even to me.

    Any suggestions?

    intake grate bolt loose?
leave it hooked up to the trailer in the water and run it up to speed with the seat off and listen for the rattle,
make sure it is secured to the trailer real good, front and rear eyes hooked up so it will not jump up the trailer,
let us know what you find?

Well I did this today and I couldn't pin point the noise. It didn't help that the boat ramp was really busy. Any further help would be great. I rode it today after this and I can start hearing it at about 4500 rpms. When I turn at say 5k or better the noise seems to go away.

I'd check the grease inside the nose cone if you haven't done so already...

Did the impeller spin fine when you had the pump out?

Look for broken pieces inside the waterbox. Has yours been modded at all?

Grease looked like new and the impeller spins smooth as butter zero play in any direction.

No modifications to the waterbox yet. I sure hate to take that thing out again it's a pain with the riva thru hull but if you think this is a possibility I'll check it. Thanks for the suggestions.

They make a mechanics stethescope that you put the end down in the engine bay and move around to listen for noise,
Or you could use a long piece of fuel hose with one end touching your ear, while the ski is running put the other end down on specific items, shaft-pto bearing-waterbox, etc.. etc..
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/MECHANICS-NO...item5d346dc5e8
That way you can pin point the rattle, take a buddy so you can have your hands free to move the end of the hose around while they rev the ski,
    good luck keep us posted
