    Pump won't come off

    Hello all,

I am new to the forum. I have a 2005 GTX 185 HP that I am trying to do a wear ring replacement on. The pump will not come loose from the ski. All four nuts are off. Any innovative ideas as to how to break it loose without tearing something up?

pull harder, wiggle side to side, pull harder. Check to see if the impeller splines are rusted into the prop (is this in salt water) You may need to unscrew the impeller from the pump with the pump still in the machine and deal with it seperately.

I had the same problem on my Xp. Seems that someone before me had put RTV sealant on back of pump to keep it from leaking. Took awhile but we got it, good luck on yours.

you can make a puller, but I've only had to to that on a kawasaki. Liberal applications of wd-40 from both side of the pump and the studs would likely help. I sometimes have to make idle threats against the pump with a tire iron and hammer. Chicken shit pumps fold as soon as they feel the cold steel on their soft plastic.
