Rebuilding sho engines after water sat in the oil over the winter.... Help!
The latest downward turn in my xr1800 project is discovering water in the oil and a rusty looking valve train after removing the valve covers.i plan on rebuilding both of my sho engines before installing them into the boat, but have never done work on these engines. Has anyone rebuilt a sho yet? I'm planning on replacing all bearings, seals, torque to yells bolts. Anything that needs replacing will be replaced with stock stuff (cams, crank, pistons). Both engines turned freely after a generous application of fresh oil and wd40 in the cylinders, but for some reason one of the engines will not turn over again after sitting for a week.
Are there any yamaha dealers who give better prices on bearings n such, or an aftermarket venue I should be talking to?
thanks for the help
