    2012 RXP-X 260 : The Ultimate Repair Thread

Shit happens. I'm angry as hell, some day down the road I'll get my revenge, but for now I'll bury the anger and use it as fuel for the comeback. Parting out the ski isn't going to happen and I'm not interested in selling it either, so save your PMs This thread is meant strictly for discussing the repair process. So let's save the insurance, accident questions, and other non-related posts for a different thread.

    Time to begin...

Step 1 - Assess and Accept the damage level
Step 2 - Put together list of parts needed for replacement
Step 3 - Remove pump, SC, Hoses, Manifold, Motor, Battery, exhaust, etc.
Step 4 - Drill out rivets and remove destroyed body parts
Step 5 - Flip hull for re-examination to ensure it's really repairable
Step 6 - Order replacement parts
Step 7 - Repair bottom Hull (glass & gelcoat)
    Step 7 - Re-install motor & other internals
    Step 8 - Re-install pump & driveshaft
Step 9 - Fix upper hull gouges and scuffs (glass & gelcoat)
Step 10 - Replace destroyed body parts
    Step 11 - Reconnect electronics
    Step 12 - Find a new trailer
Step 13 - Hit the water and tear shit up.

Tools needed: Engine hoist, standard socket sizes, gelcoat sprayer, Porter Cable, rivet gun, drill, power sander, Dremmel

Time to completion: Unknown. Will vary depending on finances and Sea-Doo part availability. I suspect the body parts will take months to arrive.

Tonight I'll post some close-ups of the main damage areas and compile an initial list of the visibly destroyed parts that need to be replaced.

Wow, Kev. Quite an undertaking. When I read item No. 12, I can only assume this wasn't a totally "on the water" issue. Sorry to read that your prize ski is down - best of luck w/the rebuild.

Good luck in the rebuild, just make sure you find a realy good body shop that repairs the hull. I know someone in Naples, let me know if you need his adress.
