    Tapping 07 manifold

I have been doing some searches on wheather I should tap my 07 exhaust manifold or do the o2 bung in the j pipe. I have a speedster 200 so I would need to do both my exhaust. One for each motor.

How many people have just taped there manifold on the 07 or older manifolds with good or bad luck. Im in need of putting a gauge on my engines to check the tunes I got from vteck and I'm just wondering which way I should go.

Its cast aluminum. It can be plugged if it breaks through.

I have done my manifold. It is a 07 and it is just fine.I have an other one off of a 06 that I will tap to use it on a project! If you find a 08 and up cheap grab it and tap it.Then you can sell your old one!Just my opinion!

I NEVER hit a waterjacket on any manifold. I have done at least 20.

I have drilled and tapped a few 06 manis. Just stay in the middle and take your time.

I did my 05 with no problems. To avoid the water jacket i stayed as close to the outside edge as possible and still leaving enough room for the gasket to seal. Water4fire's picture is in just the right location. I used a milling machine to surface the area before drilling but a drill press will work. I would not attempt to use a hand drill though. Get a new drill bit to drill the hole and it will go much easer.

Ive done to 06 manis without problem. Youll need to use a 41/64 drill bit to tap the M18 threads. Stay as far to the outside of the boss away fromt he water port as possible to keep out of the jacket
