    installed girdle on intake....

A little earlier this season I about lost my intake grate on the RXP. the rear bolts pulled out with the threads. bought the girdle and got it installed correctly. for some reason now the intake grate does not sit flush with the ride plate or the hull for that matter. I dont think that this is normal. Can anyone comment on this?

Not normal, i thinned out the girdle a little on the feet that grab the ride plate and sits flush now. i even sanded it smooth to the plate after installation. make sure you use blue loctite on those little screws

I recently just did the same to mine as my inserts pulled out.. I installed the girdle and R&D grate.. Same issue, it didn't and doesn't sit flush with the ride plate in the back.. It is about the thickness of a penny or maybe less off. I called R&D to ask them about it and I spoke to Glenn who told me that it is not supposed to sit perfectly flush with the rideplate.. I don't know why but that's what I was told from R&D.. It's on there good and has been for about 10 hrs of ride time, I guess I will leave it alone

What's the prob if it sits slightly unflush? Just scrub a minor amount of speed? What have people used to sand theirs flush?

ID:	279471sorry just getting back to this thread. my grate is hanging down about the width of 2 pennies at least. not really in the mood to grind the hell out of the grate to get it to fit. I think it may be best to go to an 08 ride plate and grate?

That is hanging down way too far. Can we see a pic of it from under the ski and maybe with the grate off ? I had some minor fitting issues when I installed the SF shoe protector and the R&D girdle but nothing like that.

Yes, that looks like a lot.. Please post some better pics if you can.. Mine doesn't hang down that much, just doesn't sit flush.. It's been working fine for me for 10+ hours, I don't think I'm going to get into grinding and all, think I'll just leave it alone.. It's not like its loose hanging down, it is bolted, loctited and siliconed.. Should be fine

5" random orbital sander start with 80-100 and go to 220grit.

Don't touch the hull with the sander...heh.
