    Need gp1200r engine help

    What's up guys,

Im a newly proud owner of a 2000 gp1200r and new to greenhulk.
So here's the story, I bought the ski and from the damages I figured I was going to have to rebuild the motor. But there is a NICE hole in the case that I didn't see until I pulled the engine out of the ski. So now I'm turning to you for some input and knowledge. I also have a 94 seadoo xp and know my way around that ski pretty well but I'm new to the yamahas. I was curious if anyone has had they're case welded before and the durability of it once that's done,(if mines even a candidate for that) and also some ideas opinions in which direction I should go. Any input would be appreciated Thanks

I will post some pics as soon as I can

If you have a hole then your case may be fubar'd. A crack anywhere besides the mating sufaces may be ok.

It would be easier to answer if you post pics of the damage.

I have done it. Just sold one I had as a spare for $75 shipped. If the dammage is not by any sealing surface or crank shaft and its not a huge hole then go for it. Just has to hold 10 psi.

    here are some pictures.

I am leaning towards the fubar idea unfortunately. pretty sure the crank is twisted as well. I am thinking this incident is the cause of the cylinder running lean? The previous owner said he had the carbs rebuilt and a new piston put in the rear cylinder not too long ago. The mechanic must not have done the best of work apparently and from looking at the carbs without opening them yet the gaskets dont look to be new. thanks lukejeager for the heads up on the case. Would anyone have any more insight to why and what would have maybe caused this to happen so i can get to the route of the problem before dumping money and time into this beast. Ive been researching about this third cylinder running hot and the timing being out of wack from the crank twist but you can always learn something new. Thanks for the replys and hopefully someone can fill me in with some more info about theese skis
