1995 Polaris SL650 - Installed new battery, no crank

    I have a 95 Polaris sl650 and I just installed a new sbt engine.

Everything hooked up I think I have the cdi box hooked up correctly and everything is ready to go. I put the new battery in (battery is new and tested ok), attached the kill switch key, I go to touch the start button and nothing. No clicks no noises, seems like nothing is connected.

Can someone lead me in the right direction. Thanks.

I hate to be the one to ask this...but are you sure the connection is on the starter?

Check the simple stuff like ground and power connections. Take a meter and start troubleshooting.

Attached is a diagram. It is not for the same ski, but the starter circuit is the same.

First things first: What kind of troubleshooting equipment do you have? Multimeter? Circuit tester? And how comfortable are you with opening up and navigating the e-box?

Umm...you took what plugs out of the box?

Quickest and easiest thing to do without having to tear things apart right away, is to verify that you have 12V at the starter switch/button. Pop the dash and you should be able to access the terminals relatively easy.

Which post on the solenoid is the thin red wire connected to? Battery heavy red cable or starter motor heavy red cable?
