    2000 and 2001 GP1200R driveshaft compatibility

Hello, I have a 2000 GP1200R and a 2001 GP1200R. The 2000 dropped another piston for the 2nd time so I'm tired of spending money to rebuild it. Instead I have decided to use it for parts to keep my 01 GPR running. The only difference in the 2 skis is the 2000 has a custom pitch impeller by Impros. I dont know what pitch it is because I bought it 2nd hand but I do know the 2000 would run circles around the 01. Since the 2000 doesnt run I decided to put the impeller from the 2000 in the 01. I got both skis apart and thought instead of removing both impellers and swapping them I decided to just swap the pumps from the 2 skis. I did this and put the 01 in the water, started it up and it wouldnt move. I pulled it out and climbed underneath and looked up into the pump and the impeller was barely turning. My first thought was the midshaft housing must have spun the splines, but it didnt make the god awful noise that you would expect with the spun splines. I swapped the pumps back and put the ski back in the water and it ran fine. This really baffled me. I talked to a guy at the races and he said he thought, but couldnt swear to it that the 2000 GPR driveshaft is an inch shorter than the 2001. I did look up thedriveshaft part #'s and found 200 and 2002 used the same driveshaft, but the 2001 driveshaft part # was different by one number. Does anyone know if in fact the 2000 GPR driveshaft is shorter than the 2001. I know the easiest way to know for sure would be to measure them but the ski is on lift on the dock and my trailer is in storage so I cant really get to it to pull the pump. Any input from you guys would be great. Thanks.

I dont know the answer to the drive shaft question but why not just switch the prop and be done with it?

    02 driveshaft is shorter (28")

2000,2001,2003-2008 are all the same (30")

2002-08 intermediate are all the same, 2003-08 have a 2" extension between the transom and wear ring
