Thread: Surging DI

    Surging DI

02 RXDI goes about 55 MPH and 6,500 RPM. When it tops out at 55 it will surge for a split second and back off immediately. It used to go 59-61MPH. Clean fuel lines, clean exhaust valves and new spark plugs. Don't know where to turn.

If I were going to guess I would say its fuel related. But, you say that you cleaned the fuel lines? This has high pressure fuel lines. How did you clean them. Also when is the last time you changed the inline fuel filter? Those filters get clogged and do not allow free flow of fuel. I would do a fuel pressure test. See if you have the 105 lbs that it calls for. If you have something less than the spec I would start there.

I have found crud in the fuel distributor on top of the head which causes erratic revs.I would pull this and clean it as well.
