    SL1050 Wear Ring Q's

    I spent today rebuilding the pump off of my 97 SL1050. I have an extended pump, so the pump extension is also where my wear ring is, correct? It seems that there is corrosion between the extension housing and the wear ring, causing some parts of the wear ring to be raised and make contact with the impeller. Is there any way to fix this besides replacing? I'm also not entirely clear on what exactly you replace when replacing the wear ring. Is there a way to remove the liner and replace it? Or do you have to just purchase a whole new extension housing? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've never done this before and want to make sure I'm doing it right and not spending any extra money in the process!

    polarispartspitstop.com has the pump extension for $140. Does this seem about right? That part will have the wear ring insert pre installed correct?

    Whole new extension section is what you need. Often available used as well as new.

    Once the inner liner starts to bulge it is basically done for.

    There are solid SS replacements and also the standard aluminum version with SS sleeve. I don't recall if there is also an aluminum only version with no sleeve.

    What Polaris models will have an interchangeable part if shopping used?

    Will this work;

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polaris-Free...#ht_500wt_1144

    That $$ would be great compared to $140!!

    All Polaris jet pump extension rings are interchangeable.

    That eBay posting says SS but the photo looks like painted aluminum, and says 'Genesis'.

    The genuine solid SS extension rings are not painted.

    Ask the seller about wear. If the ring inside surface has grooves or worn zones it will reduce impeller efficiency and reduce pump thrust. How much depends on how worn.

    Thanks for the quick replies K447!

    SS would be nice, but I'd take aluminum for $110 less.

    Anything about that particular auction or part that would make you not recommend it? I might jump on it.

    I could not say whether the listed part was 'good enough' or not. Photo may not even of the actual part for sale.

    Message the seller. If you are comfortable with the answers then all you are risking is $30.
