    Question about PTO cover

I purchased a PTO cover from a member on this forum and when I recieved it it was full of metal shavings. Has anyone ever reused a cover like this after cleaning it out real well in a solvent tank? I was told it was junk cause there was metal in it. What should I do? My skis so close to goin back together yet soo far n summers almost over.
